The World cup has been going for over 90 years, the first cup being in 1930. The World cup has a very organized way to do the tournament. It starts with 8 groups, with 4 teams in each group. Each group must have a team from a different area, for instance Argentina and Brazil or USA and Mexico can't be in the same group. In these group, each team plays each other once, having each team pkaying three games in the group stage. A win is 3 points, a tie is 1 point, and a loss is 0 points. After the groups play thier games, the top two teams from the 4 teams qualify for the knockout round, The Round of 16. Th world cup is in brackets meaning that the winner of group A plays the second place team of group B and so on. Now thier is only 16 teams left. Each team in the round of 16 plays each other once and it can't be a tie, meaning the game could go to penalty kicks if it has to. Once these 8 games are played we are now onto the Quarter finals, which is 4 games, then the semi finals, 3rd place game, then the final game, and we find out who the champion of the world is.
